Thanks to the global pandemic, couples now, more than ever, are searching for wedding venues with outdoor space to help safely accommodate their guests. Outdoor balconies, patios, and gardens not only offer stunning views of Pennsylvania’s gorgeous landscape, but also accommodate the increased desire for social distancing and fresh air.
We’ve rounded up our favorite Pittsburgh & Western Pennsylvania Wedding Venues, and chosen to spotlight the standouts that not only include impressive outdoor space, but also feature interesting and unique details and authentic character.
The Frick Pittsburgh – We just love weddings that flow from indoors to out. And at the Frick Pittsburgh, you can choose to have an intimate indoor reception or take it outdoors for a night full of music and dancing. While many museums have strict capacity requirements, this venue has the ability to host 250 or more of your closest friends and family. As the exclusive event rental provider to The Frick, we may be biased, but we can guarantee that this place is unlike any other!
The Pump House – Located across the Monongahela River from the Carrie Blast Furnaces, the Pump House used to be part of the U.S. Steel Homestead Steel Works, and dates back to 1892 when it was built by the Carnegie Steel Company. Today, its historical charm and industrial character make it a popular location for weddings. According to their website, The Pump House can accommodate 80-100 indoors and up to 250 outdoors.
“Featuring exposed-brick walls and wooden plank floorboards, the interior feels less like the industrial relic it is and more like a step back in time. The surrounding grounds, which include a lush green riverscape with an adjacent, meditative stone labyrinth and blooming bioswale, offer a natural respite from the conveniently located shops and hotels just down the way.”
Carrie Blast Furnaces – Carrie Blast Furnaces is indeed unique in that it features an industrial warehouse that can accommodate up to 1,500 people, alongside numerous open green spaces, ideal for ceremonies and tented receptions. Carrie Blast Furnaces pays homage to Pittsburgh’s rich steel industry heritage, boasting a one-of-a-kind post-industrial ambiance.
