Whether you’re a born and bred yinzer or a transplant to western PA, it’s easy to fall in love with Pittsburgh. The city is full of rich cultural history, amazing sports teams, and quirky traditions. If you are searching for ways to incorporate your love for the Burgh into your big day without full blown black and gold décor, we have lots of ideas for you!

Incorporate Pittsburgh Sports Teams

Depending on your level of enthusiasm for sports, you can include some Pittsburgh teams in a subtle way or announce them loud and proud. One simple way is to use your favorite team in one small aspect of your wedding, like the small Pirates-themed groom’s cake and baseball bat guest book pictured above, or offer a favor like customized black and yellow Terrible Towels.

Of course, you can always let your venue speak for itself and get married at PNC Park or Heinz Field. If you can’t make it to the stadium and you want to add a touch of fun to your wedding, request the Pirate Parrot to make an appearance!

Serve Traditional Pittsburgh Food

“We didn’t invent the pierogi. But no one has quite embraced it like we have,” says Dan Gigler of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. And what better appetizer or cocktail hour food is there to serve during a Pittsburgh wedding than pierogies? There are numerous catering options available, including renting the famous Pittsburgh Pierogi Truck.

Add a little Pittsburgh to any sandwich or salad with French fries, or let Primanti Bros. bring in some of their best. Find your local restaurant and give them a call to set up a catering order.

And Pittsburgh Brews

If you are serving alcohol at your wedding, there are plenty of area breweries to add to your beer list. Full Pint Brewing, East End Brewing, and Pittsburgh Brewing Company are just a few options.

Have a Cookie Table

We saved the best for last. The ultimate Pittsburgh wedding tradition, the cookie table is served in addition to your wedding cake and gives your guests a box of tasty cookies to take home and enjoy after the party’s over. You can order cookies from a bakery or enlist your family members to contribute. No one knows exactly how the tradition began, but trust us – it’s a good one.

For out of town relatives, you can even add a cute cookie table sign to explain what it is.
