Whether it’s a corporate event, wedding, or non-profit fundraiser, Hello Productions’ event planners help with events large and small in and around Pittsburgh as well as the Raleigh, NC region. Their event planners are here to help you plan your next unforgettable event and can also help with customized marketing to help you promote your business or event.

Today we sat down with Ashley Moss Kurkiewicz of Hello Productions to find out what sets them apart from other Pittsburgh and Raleigh area event planners.

Tell us a little bit about your company and what you do.

Hello Productions is an event planning and marketing consulting company. We have an office in Pittsburgh, PA as well as Raleigh, NC. We coordinate events of all sizes – from weddings and social events to corporate and nonprofit/fundraising events.

How many events do you typically plan per year and what type of events do you do most often?

Most of our business in the Pittsburgh office is focused on weddings. We are hired to plan weddings from beginning to end or to come in towards the end and offer our on-site coordination services.

Between these two services, we typically plan 20 weddings each year. On top of that, we typically plan one or two corporate conferences or non-profit events during the year.

What do you think is the most important thing people should look for when hiring an event planning company?

I think it’s important, especially with weddings, for a client to feel comfortable communicating with their event planner. You become such a big part of their event, and with weddings, you are meeting their family members and friends and really become an extended family member to them in many instances. Experience, reputation and knowledge is important as well, but communication is most important in my book.

How long before the event would you recommend someone to hire an event planner?

If we are being hired to plan a wedding from beginning to end, we typically recommend they hire us at least a year out, mostly due to availability of venues. The Pittsburgh venues that are in high demand fill up their calendar year very quickly, so a year gives us some more options and 18 months really helps if a couple has one particular venue they really want.

What are some of your favorite ways to enhance an event on a budget?

Lighting does a lot for a room at a minimal cost compared to other types of decor. We can also do a lot to play up plain linens, even white polyester linens. Votives also enhance a tablescape for very little.

The best enhancements, though, are always the personal touches a couple puts into their decor that they can create on their own.

Do you have any tips you’d like to share with those looking to hire an event planning company?

Please take the time to meet with the companies you are researching online. If you are out of town, please try to Facetime or Skype with them so you can talk “face to face.” This is particularly important if hiring a planner for beginning to end planning.

Trust us, you’re going to be spending a lot of time with this person and you are trusting them with planning one of the biggest days of your life!
